This course is for those who have very little or no experience with, or knowledge of, deaf people or the deaf community. It focuses on preparing you to minister to and share God’s word with the deaf and/or hard of hearing. The instructor will use the book, handouts, videos, games, songs, class interaction and storytelling to teach and increase your recognition of ASL. In addition to learning about deaf culture, you will learn numbers, the alphabet, spelling, basic grammar and sentence structure, and essential vocabulary and communication techniques. At the end of the course, you will know approximately 300 signs.
